"The lights hurt my eyes. The cheers annoy my ears, and I hate to answer the reporters' questions. I'm tired!"
Nobody heard what Teri said, because it's all in her head. She is one of the raising singers in the Philipines. People call her the 'voice of nation'. She was born a singer and she got all the limelight on stage, and the awards too.
But she hates it.
She just received another award from the national singing competition and now she's in her own room, staring at the ceiling.
"Teri dear, don't you want to go out and celebrate it with you? It's your day and you should be here with us!" her mother called out for her, but she replied tiredly,
"Mom, I'm tired. You guys go celebrate it without me!"
Yes. Teri feels tired. She is tired with the attention she received ever since she was a child.
"God, this is not what I want," she sighed.
But, what does she really wants? She didn't even know. Lying on her bed, she thinks hard.
"What did exactly that I want? I really love singing and dancing! Why did I feel tired and I hates it everytime I win the competitions? Hmm... maybe it's because my parents who want me to enter the competition..." As usual, Teri will never get to answer her own question when she fell asleep while thinking about it.
Monday morning is Teri's favourite day. She loves weekdays. No singing competitions, and she can go to college and learn like other normal teenagers. Walking all the way to college is Teri's precious moment where she can clear her mind, feel the warm sun, and enjoy the morning breeze-until she ended up getting the wrong turn! Without panicking, Teri turned back to the main road-and that's when she saw a poster:
"Inspired Idol? Audition with us at Quaver Entertainment!"
Rather than taking the right turn to her college, she walked to the opposite road and take a bus to the audition venue.
"You have the voice and I like the way you projected it. May I know why do you want to join us?" The auditioner asked her, while checking on her profile.
"I love singing, and in fact, I've won so many singing competitions. However, I can't feel it. I mean, everytime I sing, I just sing the tune, and it's not coming from the heart. I would like to join the ocmpany so that I can experience how does it feels to train and work hard before I can debut as a professional singer." Teri answered honestly.
The guy in front of her stared hard, before he said, "Okay. You can come with us. I would love to see if a so-called singer like you can cope with our training regime."
Teri can hardly believe her ears. She was so excited that no words came out of her mouth as she accepted the form, and went to the next counter to register herself.
"You're lucky. The others need to wait for weeks before we call them," A guy congratulate her as he keyed in Teri's particular in the computer.
Back at home, she was surprised to see her parents cheering for her. She was about to tell her the news when her father told her,
"My friend called and told me that you went for an audition. Congratulations dear. I'm glad that you went there and make the decisions on your own," he said, and hugged Teri tight.
"Don't forget to send us some kimchis," her mother joked, wiping her tears.

BEHIND THE LIMELIGHT - 7.2 (Latienza's Love)
The school compound was so noisy. Students were roaming around while waiting for the bell to ring. At the farthest corner of the building, you can hear music coming from the dark, small room. Nobody ever notice it, but in that dimmed room, a girl is dancing to the beat from her Ipod. A girl with dark hair and pale skin is dancing alone in that room. You can see form her innocent face that she's in her own world as she moved her body in tune with the music. As the bell rang, she frustratedly turned off her Ipod and went back to her class. Even in the classroom, she only listens to music. Just like in Mary Poppin's or High School Musical, eveything in front of her is moving to the beat. Her dreamy face smiled, enjoying the music that keeps playing in her head.
That's Latienza's world. Her love for music is so deep but she always keep it to herself. She hardly have friends at school, as she prefers staying home listening to music rather than going out with her friends. Being the only child made her feel lonely at first, but she has music to accompany her and no one can interrupt her when she's listening to music. One day, when she came home, she was surprised to see her mother was waiting for her at the front door.
"Latienza, this is Mr. Han. He said that he wants to see you and discuss about something. You didn't get into trouble at school, right?" Her mother looked at her suspisciously.
In the living room, a middle-aged man is waiting for her. She bowed a little and greeted him as she took a seat beside her mother.
"Hello Latienza. My name is Mr. Han, and I'm from Quaver Entertainment. I'm from Korea and was here for a business. I spotted you few days back when I'm on my way back to the office. You were dancing alone at the park late in the evening. I would like to have you in our academy. We're training potential teenagers like you to be entertainers," Mr. Han told her straightly.
Latienza wanted to say something when her mother interrupted, "what do you mean dancing? my daughter does not dance! I mean, she never went to her school's prom! and and...." She was surprised to discover her daughter's hidden talent.
"You should see her dancing, ma'am," Mr. Han replied.
Her mother started asking questions after questions. She was concerned that this Mr. Han is just a con-man who wanted to kidnap her daughter. The argument went for a few minutes when Latienza finally stood up and said,
"Mommy, I'm going to Korea."
